The Cathedral Valley is known only to a few tourists. Only a small wooden sign identifies this unusual sand and rock piste.

This trail is demanding and severely weathered. It whisks us into a grey lunar landscape through which the road meanders up and down and around the rocks.

After this first section one rides into the Cathedral Valley and its eponymous rock formation. On a gently curving sand piste we ride alongside this endless chain of red rock cathedral peaks. And, as if one needed to add something mystic to this splendid stretch, two enormous rocks tower up out of the plain into the sky; The Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon.

The race is on. Who will be first to the pagan temple of the heavenly bodies?
