Grand Staircase also known as Escalante. Established in 1996, this park owes its name to the giant table mountains erupting from the earth and which slope in stages to one side, giving the appearance of a stair case. Geologically, the rock formation reaches back to the time of the dinosaurs, whose foot prints have very often been found here.

A serpentine road spans the most famous formation and allows us to ride a way up and down the stairs.

This tour offers quick and varied passages and the constant change between extreme ascents and descents. The stretch leads through flushed out river courses and ascends in a few miles up to the next table mountain to reveal a glance at this deserted and rock-strewn landscape. In the twilight between sun and thunderclouds the rock strata shine from white through beige to fiery red.
