Today´s 46 mile long tour begins a little outside the little mountain village of Caprile (3327 ft) in the Italian province Belluno. On a well-built road we quickly reach the villages Col di Rocca and Sottoguda (4265 ft) with its gorge of the same name, which is well worth seeing.

Fedaia Pass begins, at 6749ft above sea level. On the steepening road we cross the Sottogoda gorge and after passing through a tunnel we reach the ski resort Malga Ciapela (4757.22ft).

Now a longer and more difficult road stretch begins, which is used in the Giro d´Italia and, with climbs of up to 16%, it is accordingly demanding.

On the last road stretch a few steep S-bends have to be bested before we reach the pass.

Continuing the tour alongside the Fedaia Dam we can now recover from the previous stresses and strains, enjoying impressive views of the Marmolada massif, with its glaciers, until we get to the end of the dam.

Passing the great dam wall on our way downhill, we reach the village of Penia and after a few miles the famous holiday resort Canazei (4806ft) which is the goal of our tour today in the Fassa Valley.
