Senora Pass

is the less well known brother of the Tioga Pass, offering a beautiful view on the glaciers of the Yosemite National Park. It is mentioned for the first time in 1852 and connects Senora with Bridgeport.

This pass is a relic of the time of the goldrush. A wonderful winding little country lane, which seems enchanted, leads through high pine forests and alongside mountain streams to the pass summit of 9438 ft, which adds up to a difference in altitude of 9514.50 ft. After a very high powered leg, with an incline of up to 26%, which offers hardly any breaks till you reach the summit it goes downhill with a terrific speed into a scenically barren looking valley that offers an unreal sight with its mountains that have colours ranging from white over beige to pink with partly green meadows and blue rivers.

Whilst descending the mountain you pass the Pacific Crest Trail, this is a hiking and trekking trail that leads from Canada to Mexico which can optionally be travelled on foot or on horseback.
