Monument Valley

belongs to the idea of the American West like no other region. A small highway which enables access to this last corner of Arizona leading up to Utah, is the property of the Native Americans who live here.

We begin our tour with a little climb in Kayenta, the entrance to the valley of the russet giants, which suggests itself firstly by small harbingers. Due to the low humidity in this desert landscape one can see where the road will lead during the next 12 miles. It windes over beautiful climbs and refreshing slopes between the stone columns of this unique mountain range. The route of the road seemingly makes the picture always change, because it shows the mountains out of many different pespectives.
When you then have passed the glowing monuments in the afternoon sun you will have an incredible view of the steep rocket landscape at the border to Utah.

You cross the San Juan River and master the last climb up to the border town Mexican Hat, which also await you with some of natures wonders.
