The starting point of this 37km long tour over the Jaufenpass (2,094m) to Gasteig (978m) is the tourist centre of St. Leonhard in Passeier/South Tirol at a sea level of 688m.

We start our ride at the roundabout on the road from Timmelsjoch to Meran and turn off in the direction of Jaufenpass.

Over several serpentines we quickly gain height.

Alternating between forests and meadows, we are afforded great views of the deep valley below us.

After the village of Walten (1,269m) the road turns to a pass.

With a balanced ascent we ride on up the long serpentines and soon reach the tree line.

From the last few kilometers of the pass we have a beautiful panoramic view of the Texel group.

Then at a high speed we ride 16km on the winding road down to our destination, Gasteig.

The 37km long return journey from Gasteig (978m) over the Jaufenpass (2,094m) to St. Leonhard (688m) in Passeier starts immediately with a relatively constant ascent.

Riding the 16km long road to the Jaufenpass that has many bends and serpentines we slowly gain height and after some time reach the well known Jaufenhaus at 1,887m above sea level.

From here you can enjoy the view to the South Tyrolean Alps.

Riding on after a short exertion we reach the top of the pass and have a wonderful view to the extended Passeiertal in the direction of Meran.

On the following 21km long descent to St. Leonhard we can relax from our previous exertion.
