On our return journey from St. Leonhard (688m) over the Timmelsjoch to Sölden, the tour starts on the well constructed road up to Moos (1,007m) with more humane ascent grades, although 1821m of height gain is required for the pass.

But that changes significantly shortly before the place name sign and especially after the exit from the village.

We quickly gain height over the serpentines and ride through mixed forest, to Ganderberg at a height of 2,230m.

On arrival at the Schönau inn (1,716m) we see in front of us the frighteningly steep slope with endless power absorbing serpentines up to the Timmeljoch.

On arrival at the top of the pass, we are rewarded for all our efforts with a wonderful view over the Stubaier Alps, and on the 26km descent to Sölden we can relax from our exertions.
