The tour through the wild romantic Lienzer Dolomites leads through the most ecofriendly region of Europe and is known as a special riding experience for body and soul.

More than 50 years ago when the Lienzer Josef Gilber won the first Dolomites round trip in the “beaded edge tire” class in 1951, the previous organizations talked about a real classicist.

In 1986 the first tourist trip opened the Lienzer Dolomites for the mass sports.

From then on the Dolomites round trip became one of the most popular marathon events in the whole of Europe.

The starting point of this 112km long tour is LIENZ, the provincial capital of East Tyrol, 672m height.

The first few kilometers lead us on a quite flat ride along the river "Drau" until we reach Oberdrauburg (632m).

Turning to the right we ride on a road that now gets steeper and steeper up to the Gailbergsattel at 981m height above sea level and then downhill to Kötschach (706m).

Here we turn to the right to follow the road through the picturesque Lesachtal up to St. Lorenzen (1,128m) and Maria Luggau (1,179m).

Here the Tyrolean Gailtal starts.

Riding uphill and following the road we reach at first the village of Obertilliach (1,450m) and then the highest point of this bicycle tour, the Kartitscher Saddle at 1,526m above sea level.

From hereon most of the last 30 km leads downhill passing Kartitsch (1,358m), Abfaltersbach (893m) and Thal-Assling (800m) always along the Drau back to our starting point of LIENZ.
